More facts around the vicious murder of Stuart Walker
It’s now being reported that Stuart Walker, who was found in Scotland having been beaten and set on fire, may have been the victim of a sexual assault:
He was the victim of a “violent and sustained” attack as he walked back from a house party.
Strathclyde Police previously said they were investigating the possibility that he was attacked because of his sexuality, but now, Divisional Commander John Thomson says the victim’s lifestyle is the “main focus” of his inquiries.
As Walker’s body was found partially undressed, Thomson said a sexual element to the crime had not been ruled out.
The details were announced at a press conference in Kilmarnock police office, last night.
It was revealed that Walker – a former assistant manager at the Royal Hotel in Cumnock – had almost certainly known those who killed him.
Thomson said: “I don’t think it was a random attack by someone who will strike again. I suspect Stuart may have known this individual or met this individual shortly before his death.”
The post-mortem examination will reveal whether that was the case.
A missing shirt is a bit of a stretch to make in labeling Walker’s murder sexually assault based.
In related news from Back2Stonewall, Twitter got turned on it’s ear by a particularly vicious blast of tweets celebrating Walker’s death. Now police officials want to speak to the man who wrote them:
Yesterday after the news broke of the horrific murder in Scotland of a young gay man Stuart Walker who was beaten, tied to a lampost and then burned to death the scum crawled out of the woodwork, especially on Twitter with one in particular Jay Miller – @mabsmiller posted disgusting homophobic messages about Walkers death that sent the Twitterverse into a frenzy and resulted in numerous complaints bring called into the Metropolitan Police who are also assisting in the investigation
Miller who descibes himself on Twitter as a “Liverpool fanatic”, a “true scouser” and “hard as nails”, statements included: “Bet when they put you out you was like a frazzle!”, a reference to the fact that Walker had been beaten and set on fire in what is believed to have been a homophobic attack and “Better dead now than infecting people with #Aids,” and more as you can see from a screenshot taken of his account below.
Mersyside Metro police are asking that members of the public with information about Jay Miller of Liverpool should contact them at 0151 709 6010.
