What makes someone a gay artist?

Is it because of the way that they sing?
Maybe the lyrics are about the same things.
Like rainbows and sex and just getting the best.
Like dancing and drinking, forgetting the rest.
Stereotype me into a box
And label me without one single thought
That I might be, an artist before
The adjective gay is pulled from the drawer.
I think being gay in the world of today,
Is tough enough without having to say,
I’m here, with a talent, now give me a stage
It’s not about appearance, not about age.
They solely define on the way we behave
just a wand wave, we’re out of this cage
So let’s redefine the lines of our time
things are changing, the timing is prime
Yes I am gay but that’s not what comes first
I’m just an artist, always, since birth

People call me the gay rapper. I understand where it comes from and I’m not offended but, I want to break the need to use labels. We’re keeping ourselves segregated as a community if we add the label “gay” when it isn’t necessary to the description. We are all humans before anything else. This could be why tons of gay artists have not made it far into the mainstream. The mainstream is still resistant to the entire “gay” lifestyle, but it’s because we make it hard for them to understand or join. Opening up our community walls will help. Associating and assimilating with the “straight” world may seem like giving in but it’s not, it’s creating a stronger human race.

I am also running an SEO experiment, “Music In New York: Best NYC music experiment”. I am working to rank on Google for keywords such as music in new york. My plan is to put myself in front of people that aren’t expecting it. I plan on gaining exposure and fans using my knowledge of SEO and human search intent.
