Cleveland Synergy to sue the Gay Games (among others)
Cleveland Synergy Foundation, the group who had the Gay Games, then lost their chance at the apple is taking a bunch of folks to court. From their statement I just received: (sorry it took me a while to post this. I actually had the audacity to read the entire complaint rather than rush to the “publish” button.
Sorry guys: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Not talking to the media is not helping your case. Your reputation is already on the skids with me thanks to the threatening text messages I received. While I can’t say with any assurance who sent them to me when I started covering this whole drama-thon, based on the content of them it’s safe to say it’s someone on the inside circle.
So, off to court everybody goes. CSF is citing monetary damages and that they still hold the contract due to the license agreement never being severed properly. You can read their 10-count, forty page complaint below but what it boils down to is this: everybody named as a defendant was in cahoots to oust CSF and get a slice of the pie for themselves.
Well, now it’s up to the courts to sort this all out. As this is now officially pending litigation I’m sure the statements received going forward – if any at all – are going to be very carefully worded.
Just a pity that Cleveland’s first chance at having it’s gay community in the spotlight is going to have to fight out from under this shadow.
