Finally!  Some Good News I Can Post about Arizona!

And not just ONE story about AZ worth celebrating, but two of them!

Well you can’t do anything else in Arizona without getting arrested but you can now buy liquor on a Sunday at 6am!

The last of Arizona’s blue laws is going out with little objection as the deadline nears to legalize early Sunday morning alcohol sales, and merchants admit the change will probably be even more welcome to their customers than to them.

When the legislation, which changes the 10 a.m. postponement of alcohol sales on Sundays to the regular daily 6 a.m. time, takes effect on the first Sunday in August, it will end the last Arizona law that enforced moral standards on Sundays.

And from the “not a moment too soon” department, the Justice Department is taking Arizona to court over the constitutionality of their “papers, please” law.

PHOENIX — The U.S. Justice Department on Tuesday filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Arizona’s new law targeting illegal immigrants, setting the stage for a clash between the federal government and the state over the nation’s toughest immigration crackdown.

The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Phoenix argues that Arizona’s law requiring state and local police to question and possibly arrest illegal immigrants during the enforcement of other laws such as traffic violations usurps federal authority.

Here’s hoping they get their clock cleaned in court.  If they do, well at least they can drink their sorrows away earlier on the weekend now….
