Openly Gay WWE Wrestler Takes His Own Life
Former WCW and WWE tag team champion Chris Kanyon has died.
The popular wrestler, aged 40 is reported to have taken his own life. Kanyon, whose real name was Christopher Klucsaritis, overdosed on prescribed medications he was taking for bipolar disorder. An empty pill bottle and several notes were found nearby.
It’s also being reported from a friend that he recently shared as recently as Monday that he’d been having problems and was contemplating suicide.
The friend is said to have contacted Kanyon’s family to express his concern, despite having heard this same statement in years past.
Chris came out in 2004 and had the idea of using his sexual orientation as a wrestling angle, although neither Vince McMahon’s company nor rivals TNA would hire him in that role.
