Everything that Catches my Attention

That Ring Comment

(Originally posted to FB, 07.26.09)
I did kind of sandbag people with that, didn’t I? It wasn’t intentional; it just sort of happened. I’ll tell you a secret about my writing process that virtually nobody knows other than me. Get a pen/paper, or feel free to copy-paste this little pearl of wisdom:

I don’t have a process. Or technique. Or magical muse. I pick a subject, sit down, and turn on the computer. That’s it.

So, Simon put a ring on my finger this morning at breakfast. I’ve never taken Richard’s off since he gave it to me, and this one fits perfectly with it. A gold Claddagh, perfectly sized (I know he’s been planning this – my ring size is hard to find) and inscribed with the phrase:

ทุกฉันก็เพราะว่าของคุณ

I hope that stays with this note when I hit “publish”. It’s Thai – one of the languages I speak as does Simon. Loosely translated it comes out to “Everything I am is because of you”

As expected, I was floored. After a few tears and hugs, I asked him what the ring meant. His reply was that I’m his and he loves me. That’s all the ring means. He initially was going to go for a collar and a ring thur my nose to signify that I’m his but he felt it was a bit too obvious and hard to accessorize. Direct quote.

There you have it. My head still spins from everything else that’s been going on this week so I have no predictions on what the future holds for Simon and I. Right now, it’s just a day-at-a-time journey for us both. All smiles and no complaints.
